If your decided to start a new business in 2023 or possibly rebrand an existing business and you want some help. You want some creativeness to ensure your business brand flourishes then keep reading as we are about to shot you the 7 steps to generate name for business!
I have been creating business and brands for nearly 20 years in Spain & the UK and I personally know the importance of starting off on the right foot when it comes to business, so many people start out their journey thinking too small and don’t set their sights high enough when it comes to their business, I personally own a nation mosquito control business here in Spain and we were fortunate enough to be first to market back in 2016 and combine that with a brand name that people would find it hard to forget. Back in 2016 I studied all the techniques of mosquito control and brainstormed some ideas until my clear winner had been decided, We launched Fog Off Mosquito Control (Fogging is a method of mosquito control in Asia & America) in 2016 and it was received with open arms, we combined a name that is cheeky and close to the line with a service that was required and we never looked back, now some 7 seasons into out journey we are fortunate enough to cover most of Spain and have 3 franchisees that are also flourishing.
I tell the above story in no way to boast, but to show our readers that when it comes to branding you need to be BOLD & creative to stand a great chance of succeeding, so let’s jump right in to how you can generate name for business that will be a winner!
How to build a brand in 7 steps
1. Do your research & study your target audience.
2. Decide your route & brand personality.
3. Choose a brand name
4. Create a slogan
5. Pick which colours suit your branding
6. Logo Design
7. Apply your branding and get to work
1. Do your research & study your target audience!
One of the most important parts of the seven steps is to identify who your target customers are, because let’s be honest if your trying to sell your brand to people who completely don’t fit in with your branding you may as well quit before you get going.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure of how to do all this we can help you out at the end of the article.
2. Decide your route & brand personality.
So once you have identified your target audience you need to find out how they behave. How they talk, and their online and offline habits. So you can mirror them and immerse yourself into their world. It’s the easiest ways to fit in and build that rapport for your brand.
By this stage from the audience you have selected you will know whether your brand needs to be a serious and professional style brand. Like ours at the business club as we deal day in day out with entrepreneurs who love to learn and build their income online. Your target audience maybe millennials that you can abbreviate your branding using slang. Also stand out colours and be riskier in your brand personality.
3. Create a brand name (Generate a business name)

The part I love the most, brainstorming time! I prefer to do this part on my own or with my wife whom I work with on a daily basis. Otherwise I find if you invite family and friends round it soon becomes like an out take from the apprentice with everyone shouting over each other and falling out.
I come up with ideas on a daily basis to generate name for business. I unfortunately have an over active mind and love to create brands. Also my main advice for this part is be different and extremely memorable. Let’s say for examples sake you wanted to open a pie shop and your sat brainstorming and you decide to name your shop after yourself or a loved one (Stacey’s pie shop). For example as you think all your friends and family will support you as it’s your shop.
I personally think that these community driven business are dying out. Unfortunately due to so many changes over the last 20 years and of course the internet era. I would brand a shop like this “Life of Pie” for the hardcore fans who absolutely love their pies. He would probably travel across town to get their not so healthy treats and build a brand with a fun name and a strong following.
PS www.lifeofpie.com is just one of the awesome domains we have for sale in our portfolio by the way, just to be 100% transparent.
4. Create a slogan
Stick along the theme of your core branding with this one and make it simple. For example with our mosquito control company our slogan is “BEAT THE BITE THIS SUMMER!”. It’s in keeping with our brand and explains a little further what clients can expect when they use our services.
5. Pick which colours suit your branding.
Personally for me I like to stick to two colours in my brands. I think this works best and keeps everything nice and clean when it comes to the next part.
6. Logo Design
Unless your a logo designer I always outsource this part even though I can use design software’s. I like to always ask the designer for 5 designs to chose from and then once you’ve picked the suitable design. You can tweak on the final alterations from there.
